An Exclusive Look into LineSlip’s 2022 Fall Offsite:

Although our company is fully remote, we can’t deny how special it is to be able to connect with one another in person. We were able to do this the past week in the Windy City for our company’s offsite!

We kicked off the offsite by getting to know one another in a way that we can’t behind a screen on Zoom and celebrating our colleagues’ personal milestones. Because we understand the importance of stopping occasionally to see how far we’ve come, we then looked back on what we've accomplished in the past year as a company. Since our last offsite in September 2021, we’ve doubled the headcount of employees and experienced rapid growth in our client base. We also spent some time reviewing our company’s core values to ensure that each of us stayed aligned in how we operated. Next, special guest Jim Fulton shared his inspiring personal story of perseverance and how to live by the values you stand for in all facets of your life, whether it’s in your personal or professional life.

As the day turned into night, we were ready to be out on the town and take our bonding to the next level. After dinner and some drinks, we went karaoking at a speakeasy bar where many of our LineSlip team members sang their hearts out with American Idol-level performances. We know that all our team members are talented in their work but the amount of raw and real talent (or enthusiasm) they have when it comes to karaoke is something you have to see to believe!

If the first day was about looking back, the second day was about moving forward and planning strategically what we want the company to look like in the year to come. We gave the floor to each of our company’ s department heads and let them share their 2023 goals with us, their tactical execution plans for those goals, and the resources they need. After each department was done presenting, we opened the room up to questions and let people chime in with suggestions and ideas.

Some themes that arise from our conversations are:

  • How we can improve our internal communication with one another

  • How we can better support our customers

  • How we can move quickly and efficiently in 2023 as a company

To end the offsite, we split into breakout sessions within our functional groups to discuss how we can overcome our existing challenges, brainstorm new strategies, and define our metrics for success. The smaller open forum was stimulating as ideas were thrown left and right. We reconvened once more as a large group to share what we came up with during the breakout session and opened the floor up for more suggestions.

As our offsite came to a wrap, our CEO, Leo Bernstein, shared some last words before we parted ways. Although our offsite was short, the time we spent together was inspiring and powerful. As a company, we left feeling more connected to one another and more focused and energized about our work. And most importantly, we left with a shared vision for LineSlip’s future as we continue to scale. Collectively, we understand that there’s a lot of work to be done but we are excited about where our united efforts will take us. We can’t wait for the next company’s offsite where we can reunite all together under one roof again along with our future hires!
